How to pick the right controller firmware?

Firmware for siliXcon brushless motor controllers. consists of two major parts:

  • Application - is responsible for the whole system's behavior. It transfers inputs to outputs.
  • Algorithm - is responsible for controlling the motor. Protecting the motor, battery, and the controller.

tip

The application and the algorithm are hardware-independent. This means you can scale your project without any problem and move between different controllers.

For the siliXcon controllers, there are two main public applications available. The application needs to be chosen with the controller order because a customer is not allowed to change the application by himself (but with siliXcon support it is possible).

LYNX

  • LYNX is a universal control system offering off-the-shelf complete solutions for traction systems.
  • It has several configurable logical inputs, which can be used for gathering data from external components (throttle, brake, pas, switches, etc). These signals are processed inside the system and define how the motor reacts, according to the parametrization of the LYNX.
  • Ride experience can be easily changed using the power maps.
  • This approach can eliminate the need for a VCU (vehicle control unit) – controller with this FW is capable of processing most of the needed signals.

OPHION

  • Ophion is an FW application designed for generic usage with electric motor drives.
  • It can be used in a wide range of applications from a very simple pump control to a complex position servo drive.
  • It has several predefined control modes that cover a lot of fields of operation, which allows very fast deployment.
  • Ophion can also exploit all available motor control modes to enhance its potential even more.

Custom firmware

If you have specific functionality that is not covered by the LYNX or OPHION, we can develop your custom firmware or modify the existing one. Contact our support for more information.
