midip
is our little fun program that allows playing midi files using siliXcon devices that support audio output (e.g. controllers vibrate the motor coils).
Note that midip is application-specific and uses the cmio API instead of the service protocol.
How to run
This tool is distributed within the standard SWtools package. Download and install the SWtools first and set up the connection options for your device.
During the playback, the motor may move or spin a little. Do not use it unless you are sure that the spinning motor will not cause any harm or injury.
How to use
After SWtools installation, midip is recognized as a system command and asociated with *.mid
files. If you run midi file from the file manager, it will be played automatically using the midip. Make sure that you have the connection options properly set.
- By default, Each connected device is mapped to a single MIDI channel (according to their address), so you are free to create an industrial orchestra out of your vehicles.
- If the midip finds a file with the same name but with
.ini
, it attempts to read a configuration from there. Such files can be used to remap the addresses to different MIDI channels, configure modulation envelopes, etc. Contact siliXcon for more details.
With the SWTools are distributed some sample MIDI files. They are located in the /silixcon/midi
folder. Try them out!
