SRM — Secured Remote Management

What is "SRM"?

SRM stands for "Secured Remote Management," the name for our online versioning service primarily focused on firmware version management and additional automated services for our devices.

When more releases (firmware versions) are available for a given product, SRM enables to select and upgrade to the desired release. To work with SRM, the device has to be connected to the computer with an internet connection. When an SRM request is issued, the appropriate software tool establishes a secured connection over the internet with a firmware server. The product identification is sent over this channel to the server. The server responds with the payload needed for the selected operation. Some operations may require user credentials, which can be provided by siliXcon.

tip

For OEM customers, SRM also offers container maintenance. A container stands for a firmware release locked together with configuration (typically, linked to the customer's solution).

SRM enables you to:

  • Upgrade firmware — select and install firmware releases on your devices over a secured internet connection
  • Manage containers — define firmware release channels with configuration, assign devices, and control which releases are available
  • Track devices — view serial numbers, hardware IDs, firmware versions, warranty status, and upgrade history
  • Control upgrade rights — set company-wide defaults, per-device overrides, and issue time-bounded service tokens
  • Access the Portal — a web interface for managing devices, firmware, containers, orders, and support
