Web apps

With emGUI running and connected to your device, this documentation works with the device on your desk. Its pages show your device's live values, and the web apps let you watch it and set it up right in your browser:

  • Dashboard: your controller's readings at a glance. It opens the dashboard made for your controller's application, or siliDash when there is none.
  • Interactive documentation: gauges, values and switches on the documentation pages show and change the values of your device as you read about them. See SXapi connection in the docs.

Start

  1. Start emGUI and connect to your device.
  2. Click Web apps in emGUI's toolbar. If web apps are not allowed yet, emGUI explains what they do and asks: click Allow web applications. Tick Remember to keep them allowed the next time emGUI starts.
  3. The Dashboard opens in your browser.

You stay in control

  • Web apps reach your devices only through emGUI, on this computer.
  • The Web apps button in emGUI's toolbar is green while they are allowed.
  • Switch them off at any time under Web apps → Allow web applications in emGUI. Web apps → Remember settings keeps your choice for the next start.
Technical details

emGUI runs the SXAPI WebSocket server on this computer (localhost), on port 29045 or, with a second emGUI running, the next free one. It accepts web pages from the siliXcon documentation site, your private documentation site if you have one, and this computer only, checked by their origin. While web applications are not allowed, it keeps listening and tells each page so, which the page then shows. On the command line, --ws-on and --ws-off decide at startup. See SXapi / WebSocket.
